Call for Compositions!
KPH is wanting to promote and publish mixed ensemble music with saxophone. In particular, saxophone, cello, piano trio. This is an under-explored instrumentation which is growing in popularity. Please see our Submissions page for more information.
Drew Krause - Flying Rats for soprano saxophone and computer-generated sound (2010) - 7:25 minutes
PROGRAM NOTES: Flying Rats, completed in 2010, was written for the exceptional performing gifts of saxophonist Kim Reece. All of the pitch material is derived from the twelve-tone row used by John Coltrane in his piece "Miles' Mode". I thought the title of the piece captured the music's sense of barely-contained chaos.
